A Writer After All?
Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of writing. Not the writing that I should be doing, of course, because the writing that I should be doing is essays for scholarship applications. What I’ve been into lately is actually some short stories and critical essays. I’ve been reading a lot of both classical literature and philosophy this summer, and I’ve been inspired to dabble in something other than young adult fantasy.
Here’s some of the things that I’ve been working on the past week or so:
The Boy On The Bus: TBOTB is a fictionalized, somewhat larger-than-life version of when I met my boyfriend. The true story is honestly quite funny and cute, and it makes (in my opinion) a pretty good story.
Restaurant Submission: A little piece of smut that I was inspired to write after a dream. It’s essentially your basic BDSM erotica. I’m honestly not sure why I’m writing it, except that I can.
Lame Moth: I’m actually pretty proud of the way that Lame Moth is evolving. It’s a critical essay on the state of poverty in the world, focusing on the hidden poverty in so-called “First World” countries.
I think that’s it for my bigger projects. I’ve also been doing a lot of poetry and Rennie songwriting. My current attempts include Imbolc Day, The Drunken Marriage, Holly King, and Blue-Eyed Sailor. I’ll keep you posted on the states of those…in fact, I might even post a couple.
So, that’s really all that I’ve been up to in the past week, besides driver’s training classes and volunteering at the library.
Ciao!
